Gold leaf paper is thin sheets hammered out of gold.  Due to the good ductility and plasticity of gold, one or two (31.25 grams) of pure gold can be hammered into a 10,000th of a millimeter thick, an area of 16.2 square meters of gold foil.  That is, one gram of gold can be beaten into about 0.5 square meters of pure gold foil paper with a thickness of 0.12um.  The standard specification of gold foil paper is 9.33*9.33cm, other commonly used specifications are 8*8cm, 10.9*10.9cm, 4.5*1.5cm, 2.75*2.75cm.

Gold has stable properties, permanent color, oxidation resistance, moisture resistance, corrosion resistance, mildew resistance, insect bite, radiation resistance, gold foil paper made of gold has a wide range of uses.  The gold foil paper of the ancient legal system is first purified gold, and then hammered to make gold leaf with an area of 2.5 square centimeters. Then it is put in the black gold paper made by kerosene fuming, and then hammered by hand for 6-8 hours to make the gold leaf into foil with an area about 40 times that of the gold leaf, and then cut into a square.

The traditional process of making gold foil paper is based on gold bars with gold content of 99.99% as the main raw material. After more than ten special processes such as washing, hammering and cutting foil, the paper presents golden color, bright and soft, as light as a feather and as thin as cicandy wings. The thickness is less than 0.12 micron

Edible gold leaf is a gold product that can be used to decorate food. Gold is considered "biologically inert," meaning it passes through the digestive tract without being absorbed. It is mostly used in desserts and candy making and is available in sheets and as flakes. It is one of the world's priciest foods, but considering it is real gold, the sheets and flakes are relatively inexpensive. It is important to buy quality gold leaf as cheaper versions contain impurities.
